Handmade ceramic bowls have been produced since the earliest human societies, and their hand-built nature ensures that each piece remains unique. In my work, I use coloured slips and, at times, marble together different grogged clays to introduce a sense of rusticity and imperfection.
The grog within the clay creates a subtle, sandy texture, referencing the earth from which the material is derived and emphasising the bowl’s material origins and tactile qualities.
